NCMIC launches resources designed for chiropractic students

Chiropractic Economics Staff January 16, 2020

NCMIC logoAround 2,500 students graduate from chiropractic colleges every year across the United States. To help ease the transition and prepare students for life after graduation, NCMIC has created the Starting Into Practice® Program.

The Starting Into Practice Program has held on-campus presentations for over 20 years and recently launched a website and Facebook group designed to give students access to in-depth information about business, marketing, practice structures, finances and more.

“Students are graduating from chiropractic schools prepared for the clinical side of practice but we have been told that some felt unprepared for the business side,” said Dan Zimmerman, Director of Corporate Relations at NCMIC. “That’s why Starting Into Practice was created. The program provides resources for students whether they are associating, becoming an independent contractor or starting their own practice.”

NCMIC has also launched a Student Ambassador Program on nine of the chiropractic school campuses. These student ambassadors help promote the Starting Into Practice resources at their schools.

Each ambassador went through an application and interview process prior to being selected for the position.

“During chiropractic school you learn an unbelievable amount of information. By talking to recent graduates and established doctors in the field, I soon realized that we do not learn everything — especially in regard to the business side of things. I applied for the Starting Into Practice Program to try and gain a deeper understanding and broader knowledge of what goes into building a practice,” said Addison Ozakyol, NCMIC Starting Into Practice Ambassador at National University of Health Sciences Florida. “I am very excited to serve as a Senior Ambassador between NCMIC and my university and to share all of the opportunities and knowledge I gain back with my peers, helping with the success of this next generation of chiropractic physicians.”
