May 19, 2012 — The World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) will hold its Silver Anniversary Congress April 10-13, 2013 at the International Convention Centre in Durban, South Africa.
“Titled Chiropractic Under the African Sun this Congress celebrates the first 25 years of the WFC,” says WFC President Dr. Mike Flynn from the American Chiropractic Association, “and over and above our usual outstanding academic and social program there will be special events attended by prominent leaders in the profession worldwide.”
A new official history of the WFC and the rise of the profession since the late 1980s authored by Dr. Reed Phillips will be launched in Durban. WFC past President Dr. Louis Sportelli and WFC Secretary-General David Chapman-Smith give keynote addresses on the global profession and where it is going.
In one session delegates will hear from pioneering African chiropractors from countries such as Botswana, the Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, and Zimbabwe.
“One reason that a group of us from Brazil are registering now,” says Dr. Juliana Piva from São Paulo, “is that we don’t want to miss out on the bargain pre-Congress seminars, which were sold out early and such a success at the Rio Congress last year.”
There are one- and two-day pre-Congress seminars by leading clinicians such as Dr. Lindsay Rowe (Australia, imaging), Dr. Joyce Miller (UK, pediatrics), Dr. Chris Colloca (U.S., instrument adjusting), Dr Tom Hyde (U.S., FAKTR), Dr. Kevin Jardine (Canada, taping and rehabilitation), and Dr. Craig Morris (U.S., ProGolf workshop).
Social events include a Thursday African Night, a Friday Welcome Beach Party for free sponsored and hosted by the City of Durban, the WFC’s Silver Anniversary Banquet, and a dance on Saturday with South Africa’s sensational all-girl Sterling EQ electric quartet as featured entertainment.
