Standard Process Inc. awards scholarships to chiropractic students

August 25, 2010 — Standard Process Inc. recently presented scholarships to students at New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) and Parker College of Chiropractic (Parker).

Nicholas Staneckyj of NYCC and Abby Perone of Parker each received $2,000 from Standard Process and an opportunity to tour the whole food supplement manufacturer’s Palmyra, Wis. 420-acre certified organic farm and productions facilities.

Standard Process created its scholarship program to encourage students to study whole food nutrition while pursuing degrees in alternative healthcare. Staneckyj and Perone, who are seventh trimester students, submitted winning essays on how they would incorporate nutritional therapies into their future chiropractic practices. The scholarships were presented to each student at their respective schools.

“The benefits from incorporating whole foods into your patients lives provides a synergistic effect with chiropractic care allowing your patients to flourish, maximizing their quality of life,” said Staneckyj.

Perone said she was elated to receive a scholarship from Standard Process because she has been an advocate of the company’s products since starting her education at Parker. “I definitely see Standard Process products as an integral part of what will be my comprehensive wellness paradigm as a chiropractor,” said Perone. “I see this as the beginning of a strong relationship with Standard Process, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the support.”

The development of nutritional education programs is important to Standard Process. “Developing and improving nutrition education programs at the collegiate level are key to securing a future for complementary healthcare,” said Mary Beth Larsen, DC, Standard Process chiropractic relations manager. “Standard Process is committed to supporting schools, especially those interested in implementing nutrition education programs, and students who are interested in making nutrition education and services integral in their future practices.”

In addition to the essay, scholarship applicants must:

• Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.9 or higher;

• Provide a list of their contributions to the profession, the college, and the community; and

• Provide a letter of recommendation.
