July 22, 2013 — On Aug. 25, Greg Leyer, PhD, an esteemed scientist in the probiotics field and chief scientific officer for UAS LifeSciences, will offer a training session on probiotics as part of the scheduled program at the Florida Chiropractic Association’s (FCA) National Convention and Expo.
Leyer’s presentation, Probiotic Therapy: Assessing the Evidence, will explore the recent research in probiotics and the human microbiome study. Attendees will learn how probiotics are beginning to transcend their conventional applications, proving valuable in ways once never imagined.
During the training session, Leyer will share emerging research, including findings from the National Institute of Health’s Human Microbiome Project, which suggests the benefits of healthy bacteria extend beyond the digestive and immune systems and can positively impact specific health conditions like metabolic syndromes, obesity and psychiatric disorders. Leyer will discuss key concepts at the forefront of probiotic research, including the gut-brain axis and more.
With more than 20 years of research experience in the field and previous positions held at Danisco USA and DuPont Nutrition and Health, Leyer is a distinguished expert in probiotics, collaborating with leading researchers and presenting at numerous conferences around the world.
During the expo UAS Labs, which markets probiotics under the Multi-Flora label, will showcase their new line of probiotics specifically designed for use by medical professionals. Doctors will have an opportunity to preview the new brand and speak with Leyer in person about probiotics.
