Don’t sleep on the benefits of a premium mattress for your patients

Chiropractic Economics March 27, 2018

As practitioners with a particular focus on spinal health, chiropractors also understand the role a premium mattress plays not only in sleep but also in supporting the spine and maintaining proper alignment.

As healthcare professionals, chiropractors understand the importance of sleep and how it can directly influence a patient’s health and well-being.

And as practitioners with a particular focus on spinal health, chiropractors also understand the role a quality mattress plays not only in sleep (a key component in recovery) but also in supporting the spine and maintaining proper alignment.

Given the potential impact on health, a person’s choice of mattress is an important one. The hours a person spends sleeping make up a substantial portion of each day (not to mention a huge part of one’s life over the long term). A quality mattress will help support the body and its nightly efforts to recover, repair and regenerate. A poor mattress, on the other hand, could quite possibly make matters worse.

This is why many chiropractors have partnered with high-end mattress manufacturers. In addition to relieving pressure points and enabling the body to fully relax, the supportive construction and adaptive layers of a well-engineered premium mattress help the body hold chiropractic treatments longer, increasing a patient’s comfort and sense of well-being between appointments.

Additional revenue for your clinic

Not only does a premium mattress help support your patient’s spinal health and overall wellness but retailing a line of mattresses through your clinic can provide ongoing financial support for your business.

A return on the time you invest

As trusted healthcare professionals, chiropractors are seen as valuable sources of information on topics that relate to health and well-being. Your patients already trust you to advise them about issues ranging from bracing to supplements. Be sure to educate them about the importance of quality sleep, and offer a premium mattress as part of the solution.

Retailing a high quality brand of mattresses lets you not only serve your patients but also offers you compensation for the time you invest advising them in areas that impact their well-being.

Talking with patients about sleep patterns and mattress quality

Sleep patterns are a normal part of the conversation chiropractors have with patients. Chiropractors regularly ask patients such questions as:

  • How are you sleeping?
  • Is your mattress old?
  • Have you flipped your mattress lately?

This line of discussion creates a perfect segue to starting a conversation about the benefits of a quality mattress.

Why a premium mattress?

Premium mattresses offer multiple features and functions shown to help users sleep more deeply and awake more fully rested:

Force absorption: A well-engineered mattress is better able to absorb the forces that create pressure points on the body. This produces greater comfort, reduces tossing and turning, and enables the user to relax more fully into their sleep.

Motion transfer reduction: Many of today’s mattress materials also dramatically reduce motion transfer between sleeping partners, so if one moves, the other is less likely to be disturbed; and they can maintain a deeper sleep.

Adaptation: These materials also adapt quickly to a person’s body throughout the night, enabling them to fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.

Cooling technologies: Some mattress brands even have technologies integrated into them to maintain a more constant temperature that leaves the user feeling more refreshed.

In conclusion

In addition to providing your patients better sleep and pain-free mornings, retailing a premium mattress brand can provide your practice with a new source of revenue―one that can become a major profit center for your business.

Urge your patients―who may already be mattress shopping―to consider purchasing a mattress through your practice, and offer to help them select the model that best suits their health situation.
