The National 2020 by Florida Chiropractic Association, “the premier chiropractic convention and expo in the world,” has announced the postponement of its live event scheduled to begin Aug. 27, 2020, in Orlando, Fla. The new event date will be Nov. 5-8, 2020, at the Hyatt Orlando.
“An overwhelming majority of FCA members, past attendees and exhibiting companies have asked us to keep this event live and in person, as well as offer a virtual event component,” the FCA released in a statement. “We have heard you, and we are seeking to serve you in that exact manner, while make responsible decisions related to the current COVID crisis. As you know, COVID statistics, media reporting and government policies are currently preventing and impeding travel and many attend and exhibit at FCA events from other states. With the very recent spike in COVID, we now find it necessary to postpone The National 2020 and are working to finalize the new date of Nov. 5-8 at the Hyatt Orlando.”
The convention in November will boast more than 80 internationally-renowned speakers.
“Although this year brings obvious reasons for concern, FCA is moving forward with preparations for 2020 that will include the safest possible environment with proper social distancing and hygiene protocols,” wrote FCA CEO Debra Brown Hagan in an event preview article for Chiropractic Economics. “The FCA remains committed to providing the very best learning opportunities to the chiropractic profession and will leave no stone unturned to provide a safe environment for you to enjoy.”
The FCA says that for those that have pre-registered for The National 2020 or made hotel reservations, the transition to the new conference date will be seamless, and that registrants will be updated via email.
“And for those who feel 2020 is too soon to attend any event, we still ask you to join us this year as we offer our first-ever virtual convention and expo,” the FCA writes. “This option will be available with every event for the foreseeable future. Thank you for your support and understanding throughout the many challenges of these times.”
Registration for the new Nov. 5-8 date will be open to July 24.
“This decision was not made lightly, but with great thought and concern for the health, safety and access of attendees, sponsors, speakers, exhibitors and national leaders who attend The National,” Hagan told Chiropractic Economics. “Last week saw a strong surge in cases across the U.S. and in Florida. Many companies have instituted travel restrictions, and some states have issued quarantine orders for those returning from Florida. Given these recent developments, we had no alternative except to postpone the conference.
“Even with the necessary postponement of this year’s conferences due to these trying times, we continue to work to provide the very best educational offerings through live events, as requested by 70% of those surveyed. Coordinating virtual events will also be offered for those who aren’t yet ready to attend in person.”
