Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) received the maximum seven-year reaccreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (ACAHM) for its Eastern Medicine programs.

The reaccreditation covers the Master of Acupuncture with a Chinese Herbal Medicine Specialization and the Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine programs. ACAHM awarded the reaccreditation in April following a site visit earlier this year, an SCU press release noted.

Review confirms program excellence

“This re-accreditation is a prestigious recognition of our commitment to maintaining academic excellence and values of higher education in this field, ensuring that we provide the highest quality education to our students, and underscoring our continuous advancement,” said Jenny Yu, DACM, LAc, Dean of the Eastern Medicine Department, adding that the achievement also spotlights “the diligence and dedication of our entire SCU team: faculty, students, patients, staff, and administrators. We sincerely appreciate everyone who contributed to this success.”

Long-term accreditation supports student confidence

ACAHM conducted its site visit in February. The visiting team evaluated the university’s programs in areas including mission alignment, curriculum, faculty, clinical training and student outcomes. The commission voted to approve the reaccreditation through April 2031 with no required reporting.

SCU remains institutionally accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission.
