Parker opens senior-only chiropractic & physical fitness program

Chiropractic Economics March 20, 2009

March 20, 2009 — Parker College of Chiropractic announced plans to establish a Stay Fit Seniors (SFS) facility within the Parker College Wellness Clinics, making Parker the first chiropractic college to embrace this program. Parker will join SFS in its mission to help thousands of chiropractors help millions of seniors.

The Stay Fit Seniors program encourages participants to engage in cardiovascular and strength training exercise in a 30-minute circuit-training format, specifically designed for seniors aged 60 and up. Chiropractic care will also be an important component of the program. SFS addresses the physical, mental, and social aspects of wellness, contributing to overall good health and longevity. Parker is on the leading edge of this new care protocol with the inclusion of the SFS program in its outpatient clinic.

Founded in 2005, the Stay Fit Seniors program is already operating in private chiropractic offices in New York, California, Connecticut, Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio, with plans to open more nationwide.

The Stay Fit Seniors Program first gained national attention in March of 2007 when legendary fitness icon Jack LaLanne endorsed the program. The 94-year-old fitness icon, who graduated from chiropractic school in 1938, endorses and actively promotes the Stay Fit Seniors program.
