Palmer College of Chiropractic earns 2016 Military Friendly Schools designation

Chiropractic Economics Staff December 30, 2015

Palmer feature imagePalmer College of Chiropractic has been selected by Victory Media, publishers of G.I. Jobs magazine, as one of an elite group of Military Friendly Schools for 2016. This is the fifth consecutive year Palmer has earned this honor, which recognizes colleges with leading programs for veterans, members of the Armed Forces leaving military service and military spouses.
This year’s list highlighted more than 1,400 Military Friendly Schools exhibiting best practices in support of military students. Institutions of higher learning competed for the title by completing an extensive survey covering ten indicators of success, including support for student veterans on campus, graduation and employment outcomes, and military spouse policies. Among other practices supporting military members, veterans and their families, Palmer is a full participant in the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program offered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

This means that eligible U.S. veterans enrolled, or about to enroll, at any of Palmer’s three campuses can have up to 100 percent of their out-of-pocket tuition and fees covered for one year. Eligible students are able to re-apply for subsequent years of their education.

Additionally, active-duty military personnel, qualified veterans and their families are given free chiropractic care at Palmer Chiropractic Clinics. During the 2014-15 fiscal year, more than 14,000 patient visits were recorded for active-duty military and their families as well as qualified disabled veterans. Since the military program’s inception in 2008, the Palmer Clinics have provided more than $2.4 million of in-kind care.

Palmer College of Chiropractic is the founding college of the chiropractic profession, and is known as the trusted leader in chiropractic education. It was founded in 1897, in Davenport, Iowa, by D.D. Palmer. Palmer College of Chiropractic has more than 2,200 students at its campuses in Davenport, Iowa, Port Orange, Florida, and San Jose, California.
