October 25 webinar on EHR is ‘must’ viewing for chiropractors

Chiropractic Economics Staff October 24, 2012

October 24, 2012 — Chiropractors are urged to register for a free webinar Oct. 25 to learn why implementation of electronic health records (EHRs) is vital to the financial well-being of their practice. The event coincides with October being National Chiropractic Health Month.

Titled “Why EHR is Critical to Chiropractic Practice Survival,” the one-hour webinar will take place at 2:00 pm EST and 7:00 pm EST. It is being presented by Kevin Sharp, DC, one of the leading authorities on EHR implementation and government incentives.

Not only will webinar participants learn about the financial benefits of EHR to their practice, but also why delaying EHR may eventually cost them money. Key topics to be covered by Sharp include:

  • The truth about government incentives
  • How easy it is to implement EHR
  • The financial benefits of going paperless

While Oct. 3 was the last day for chiropractors to begin their 90-day reporting period to demonstrate meaningful use of certified technology, those who missed this deadline can implement EHR in the coming months and still be eligible for up to $39,000 in incentives.

Beginning in 2013 potential incentives will begin to decline and eventually will be followed by penalties for Medicare providers that do not become meaningful users of certified technology.

By the end of 2014, all medical records in the U.S. are to be converted into the electronic format as part of the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, enacted as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
