How big of a problem is lower back pain?

Chiropractic Economics Staff April 25, 2016

More than 80 percent of people will suffer from lower back pain at some point in their lives. Lower back pain is the 2nd most common reason for seeing a doctor. And the problem is much more than just the pain and discomfort – Americans spend over $50 billion each year trying to treat or get rid of lower back pain.

Most low back pain resolves on its own within about four to six weeks without any medical treatment. But due to the fact that there are a whole lot of things that can cause lower back pain, and some of those things can be quite serious if left untreated. It is important to seek professional help from a chiropractor who are the experts at diagnosing the cause and determining the proper treatment for lower back pain. When it comes to the spine, chiropractors know all about bringing muscles, tendons and ligaments back into alignment while taking the stress off of areas that are injured or ailing. In fact, major studies have shown that chiropractic care is more effective, cheaper and has better long-term outcomes than any other treatment.

This makes sense because chiropractic care is the only method of treatment that serves to re-establish normal vertebral motion and position in the spine.
Please take a look at infographic below. It details more stats and information that will help you recognize how big of a problem lower back pain is, what causes it, and how to treat it.
