Logan University faculty members honored as research scholars

Chiropractic Economics Staff May 22, 2024

Logan University Research Scholars for 2024

Five outstanding Logan University faculty members received Logan Research Scholarship pins on May 13. This is the second year Logan has recognized research scholars for their academic excellence.

All the scholars Logan selected were lead authors of a publication in a peer-reviewed journal or lead authors of a workshop, platform or poster presentation at a peer-reviewed conference between May 2023 and May 2024. The scholarship pin colors – blue, bronze, silver and gold – reflect the number of publications in peer-reviewed journals and work accepted to peer-reviewed conferences. Each scholar received blue pins representing they were lead authors of one to five publications and conference presentations.

Below is information on the five research scholars who received Logan Research Scholarship pins.

Elise Hewitt, DC, DICCP, FICC, was awarded the blue scholarship pin for her abstract, “Evidence-based Musculoskeletal Care for Pediatric Health Conditions,” which was presented in a workshop at the 17th World Federation of Chiropractic’s (WFC) Biennial Congress conference from October 11-14, 2023, in Queensland, Australia. Hewitt is the Program Director for Logan’s Master of Science in Chiropractic Pediatrics program and one of the foremost authorities in the specialty of chiropractic pediatrics.

Patrick Montgomery, DC (’76), MS, FASA, FICC, LCP, received the blue scholarship pin for his abstract, “Expansion and Community Awareness: The Impact of Dr. George A. Goodman and Logan College,” and platform presentation on the topic at the Association for the History of Chiropractic’s 43rd Annual Conference in Port Orange, Florida, occurring on June 15, 2024. Montgomery earned his Legion of Chiropractic Philosophers certification in 2023 and is currently a full Professor of Chiropractic History, Philosophy and Technique and Clinical Nutrition at Logan.

Huxlande Petigny, DC (’21), MBA, earned the blue scholarship pin for her poster presentation, “Proximal median nerve schwannoma sonographic findings: A case report,” presented at ACCRAC 2024, the Association of Chiropractic College’s 30th Annual Educational & Research Agenda Conference in San Diego, California, on March 21-23, 2024. Petigny is currently a Diagnostic Imaging Resident at Logan.

Kristina Petrocco-Napuli, DC, MS, DHPE (’23), FICC, FACC, was awarded the blue scholarship pin for her abstract, “Chiropractic Approaches to Women’s Health and Well-being,” which she presented in a workshop also at WFC’s 17th Biennial Congress conference. Petrocco-Napuli is the Associate Provost of the College of Chiropractic at Logan, and her work has focused on women’s health, especially related to natural healthcare plans, for more than two decades.

Dingbo Shi, DC, received his blue scholarship pin last year, but has made a second contribution this year, with his new publication, “NW: Ultrasonography in diagnosis of distal biceps tendinosis: A case series.” Shi is currently a Radiology Resident at Logan.
