Logan University has been officially designated a Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Approved Education Partner (AEP), following a rigorous review process that evaluated the quality, relevance and outcomes of its health informatics curriculum.
The designation places Logan among an exclusive group of institutions recognized by HIMSS for meeting high standards in health information and technology education, a Logan press release noted.
“HIMSS approval validates the strength and relevance of our curriculum at a time when healthcare organizations are navigating rapid technological change,” said Regina Glenn, PhD, RHIA, CHDA, CCS, CPHIMS, MSHI program director at Logan. “This designation affirms that our students are gaining the skills and competencies they need to remain competitive and secure in today’s workforce.”
As part of the review, HIMSS highlighted Logan’s focus on information, data and technology-driven innovation across the curriculum, specifically noting HIMSS 530: Systems Analysis and Design as a strong example of coursework aligned with current industry needs. The program emphasizes real-world applications, diverse teaching methods and the development of both technical expertise and essential soft skills.
The MSHI program also addresses emerging challenges and opportunities tied to artificial intelligence and the digital transformation in healthcare, equipping graduates with adaptable, in-demand skills as technology continues to evolve.
As a HIMSS Approved Education Partner, Logan is now authorized to offer HIMSS-approved continuing education and programs designed to prepare learners to sit for HIMSS professional certification exams, providing added value for both current students and working professionals seeking career advancement.
“This recognition strengthens our ability to support students at every stage of their professional journey,” Glenn added. “It reflects our mission to deliver education that is timely, relevant and grounded in the realities of modern healthcare.”
