Life Chiropractic College West (LCCW) has received approval to accept international DC students at its Bellevue, Nebraska, campus, effective Oct. 18.

Granted by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), this approval marks a significant step in expanding educational opportunities for aspiring DCs from around the globe, a Life West press release noted.

A formal request for SEVP approval was submitted on July 13, 2023. Following their review process, Life West Nebraska completed their site visit on Aug. 8, 2023. This final approval allows the Nebraska campus to begin admitting international DC students beginning in Winter 2025 quarter.

International DC students will add diverse perspectives

Debbie Calero, Assistant Director of Enrollment & International Services and Primary Designated School Official, drove this process forward and expressed that this approval represents not just a milestone for the Bellevue campus, but a huge step forward for international DC students to pursue their dreams of becoming DCs in the U.S. She added that the college is excited to welcome students from different backgrounds who will enrich the community with their unique perspectives and experiences.

LCCW’s Bellevue campus, which opened its doors in Fall 2023, is growing rapidly and has already made a significant impact on the local community and the chiropractic profession. With state-of-the-art facilities, a clinically inspired curriculum and a commitment to hands-on experience, the college’s mission is to graduate practice-ready DCs.

In addition to Calero, the push for international DC students was supported by Marilyn Al-Hassan, EdD, Executive Vice President, and Scott Donaldson, DC, Provost, both of whom played pivotal roles in navigating the process. Al-Hassan shared that the successful approval for the international DC student program reflects the hard work and dedication of the entire team. She emphasized that diversity is a cornerstone of effective education and that the college looks forward to enriching the academic environment with international perspectives.
