Life University launches new kind of wellness app

Chiropractic Economics January 5, 2011

January 5, 2011 — Life University recently announced the official launch of the first ever whole wellness app rooted in chiropractic philosophy — myLIFEplus.

The free, multifunctional app is equipped with a wide range of features that promote a vitalistic view of optimal wellness and the role of chiropractic care in achieving it. The app is now available in the Apple App Store (the initial version is only available to Apple users).

Designed with significant input from LIFE-affiliated chiropractors and built by Bizmosis, a social media and mobile solutions developer that has created apps for American Idol and Fortune 500 companies, myLIFEplus is a whole new kind of wellness app.

myLIFEplus measures users’ total health using six dimensions of wellness — physical, intellectual, emotional, social, environmental and spiritual — that serve as the foundation of Life University’s innovative Wellness Portfolio, and provides multiple avenues and information to help users improve their total health using a vitalistic, chiropractic approach.

Frequently updated real life challenges within each dimension are specifically designed to motivate users to increase their total wellness in fun, inspirational ways. Informative article and video posts rooted in natural health philosophies allow users to educate themselves on non-medical approaches to wellness.

Other educational features include the myProducts listing, which presents updated lists of natural products in various categories for users to peruse. A companion ProviderProducts section lists products favored by LIFE-affiliated chiropractic offices, so patients can find out more about the products and services available to them through chiropractic.

LIFE-affiliated chiropractors can also choose to submit attributed content, which is then linked to their listing in the myProviders directory — yet another myLIFEplus feature that allows users to find chiropractic offices near a particular city, state or zip code. An Appointment Tracking function, to remind patients of upcoming office visits, rounds out the app’s impressive list of offerings.

“This app is absolutely the first of its kind,” says Life University President Guy Riekeman, D.C. “We’ve been sharing some of the details of myLIFEplus with chiropractors all over the country for a while now, and the excitement level is already phenomenal. This really is a tool that can not only help spread the message of chiropractic and vitalistic healthcare, but can actually help people to start living truly healthier, happier lives from the first time they use it.”

An enhanced version of the app is already in development, and is expected to debut by 2012.
