Laser Spine Institute’s new surgery center opens in St. Louis

January 15, 2015 — Laser Spine Institute, a leader in minimally invasive spine surgery, has opened the doors of its new facility in Creve Coeur, Missouri, located in west St. Louis County.

The greater St. Louis metropolitan area contains more than 1.1 million people with neck or back pain, according to the National Institutes of Health, The Burden of Musculoskeletal Diseases in the United States. Laser Spine Institute’s minimally invasive spine procedures have helped more than 50,000 patients find relief from neck or back pain since the opening of its first ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in 2005.

“We’re excited to expand our presence to the St. Louis area,” Bill Horne, chief executive officer of Laser Spine Institute, said. “This is the second new facility we have opened in recent months, which reflects our commitment to providing a high standard of medical and patient-centered care to new populations across the country.”

Laser Spine Institute has made nearly 30 local hires to date to support the St. Louis opening and is actively recruiting for another nine positions, with additional positions expected to open in the coming months. The anticipated incremental economic impact of the new center is more than $32 million to the local community.

The new center features the latest technological advancements and surgical equipment, including three Class C operating rooms, 10 clinic exam rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite, a patient café offering catered breakfast and lunch, flat-screen televisions, and complimentary wireless Internet for patients and their care partners.

The new center is the second of three new facilities opening in the Midwestern United States and comes on the heels of the opening of the company’s location in Cleveland. Together, the three facilities will increase the number of U.S. residents residing within a 250-mile radius of a Laser Spine Institute center by 50 percent and continue the company’s mission of providing patients with an effective alternative to traditional open back surgery.

The center is located at 450 N. New Ballas Road in Creve Coeur, Missouri.
