In loving memory of Shelby M. Elliott, DC

Chiropractic Economics Staff August 21, 2015

elliotIt is with deep sorrow that Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) wishes to inform the community of the death of Shelby M. Elliott, DC, former TCC president and alumnus of the class of 1950. Elliott passed away on Wednesday, August 19.

Shelby M. Elliott completed his doctor of chiropractic degree at Texas Chiropractic College and served as president of the institution upon appointment by the TCC Board of Regents from 1990 until his retirement in 2003.

As president, Elliott guided the new construction of multiple campus facilities including the Moody Health Center and Harris Administration Building, while also offering his own personal financial support for early renovations and the landmark monument at the institution’s entrance along Spencer Highway in Pasadena.

Elliott maintained a successful chiropractic practice in Dayton, Texas for 38 years. Dr. Elliott served in nearly every elected position in local, state and national chiropractic associations, including as president of the Board of Governors for the American Chiropractic Association for an unprecedented five years, as well as nine years on the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners upon appointment by two different governors of the state of Texas.

Elliott was born on June 24, 1926 in Wild Cherry, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations to Texas Chiropractic College or First Baptist Church of Pasadena Building Fund. A viewing will be held on Friday, August 21 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Rosewood Funeral Home, 3999 Pasadena Boulevard in Pasadena, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 7500 W. Fairmont Parkway, also in Pasadena.
