Grow your chiropractic practice with public speaking

Edward Martin February 20, 2025

Grow your chiropractic practice with public speakingWould you like to find an effective marketing method that can help you attract more patients to your chiropractic practice? I have found that public speaking is one of the most powerful ways to acquire many new patients.

As a DC, public speaker and marketing coach, I have found most healthcare practitioners have not added public speaking to their weekly chiropractic marketing plan. Those who haven’t are missing out on a great way to become successful.

Here’s how to utilize this powerful marketing tool:

  1. Get confident.

Most healthcare practitioners do not feel comfortable giving speeches.  You may feel this way too; fear of public speaking is one of the most common fears in the world. But you can conquer that fear, learn to enjoy giving speeches and start to attract many new patients as a result.

The best speakers weren’t born that way; they had to learn. It is very important to be taught how to become a confident speaker.

Unfortunately, many people waste their time taking traditional speech classes and practicing at home in front of a mirror. These old methods will not get you ready to give your speeches.

Also, those traditional classes often have you practice speeches about current events and other unrelated topics. They don’t have you rehearse your specific speech, which will get you ready to answer questions from the audience you will encounter when you speak.

In addition, traditional coaching and speech classes don’t have you set goals for success or explain how to book speaking engagements. I always teach my coaching clients how to set up two to three speeches per week.

You should also set a measurable goal for your speaking efforts, such as how many new patients you want to acquire each week.

In addition, your speaking coach should give you feedback several times during your rehearsal sessions.

  1. Measure your success in numbers.

What if your speeches helped you acquire between two and 10 new patients every week? Do you think that would motivate you to give between two to three speeches each week? That would equate to giving 100 to 150 speeches in a year.

I  have found the most successful speakers try to give between two to three speeches each week to targeted groups.

  1. Choose your audience.

Many new speakers don’t know how to choose the right kinds of groups for their speech topics. They will accept speaking engagement invitations from any group that needs a speaker. But, this usually does not get you new patients, as you may choose audiences who are not very interested in your topic.

Instead, search for targeted audiences who might be more excited about your speech. You will find you have a greater chance of attracting new patients when you speak to targeted groups who can better relate to your topic. Also, a targeted audience might have a greater need for your chiropractic treatments.

  1. Keep speaking!

Over the years, I have seen many new speakers give up quickly on public speaking when they didn’t get results right away. You’ll get better at it the more you do it, and you’ll attract many new patients via this powerful chiropractic marketing method. So don’t give up on this very effective way to build your chiropractic practice.

Final thoughts on public speaking

The best way to become a successful speaker is to speak and speak often. Aim to speak two or three times a week to build your confidence, and be sure to choose audiences who will be receptive to your message about chiropractic care. Keep track of your progress (and your new patient numbers) and stick with it, and you will realize how effective and enjoyable this method of marketing can be.
