First Tuesdays Webinar: Follow up questions

Chiropractic Economics December 17, 2010

In our continuing mission to bring cutting-edge science and business information to the chiropractic community, on Dec 14, 2010, Chiropractic Economics hosted a “First Tuesdays” webinar presentation titled “Focus on Nutrition.”

You can view the archived Webinar here.

In part one of the webinar, Keith Randolph, PhD, reports on the role of phytonutrients in diet and health, detailing the research findings of America’s Phytonutrient Report. Dr Randolph explains how patients may require adjustments to their diet in order to achieve target goals, and how the health professional can use a color-coded paradigm to balance levels of phytonutrients in the counseling setting.

In the second part of the webinar, renowned chiropractic coach and author Mark Sanna, DC, shares techniques and strategies for marketing nutrition in the practice setting. Together, these talks combine to give you a keen insight into the science of nutrition and supplements, and ideas on how to integrate this knowledge into clinical practice.
We received more questions from the audience than we had time to answer. Answers to questions not addressed during the webinar are given below:

Question:  Can you provide further information on how I can download the America’s Phytonutrient Report series which Dr. Randolph spoke about in his presentation?

Answer:  Please visit www.nutrilite.com and click on the “View America’s Phytonutrient Report” tab on the home page.  From here you will be able to download and print not only America’s Phytonutrient Report, but also the Bone Health, Heart Health, Women’s Health and Immune Health extension reports also mentioned during the webinar.

Question:  Can I sell Nutrilite products through my practice?

Answer:  A chiropractor can register as an Amway Independent Business Owner (IBO) and, if a patient asks for a product recommendation, they can then discuss Nutrilite. The simplest approach to selling Nutrilite once a patient asks for a product recommendation would be to provide the patient with one’s personal retail website address (a simple,  easy-to-create customized website template that Amway provides IBOs) to order product. Chiropractors are not, however, allowed to display or sell product from their office, per the Amway Rules of Conduct.  For more information, please visit http://www.amway.com/en/start-a-business

Dr. Sanna’s follow-up replies:

Question: Should I create an incentive for my staff to manage/sell nutritional supplements?

Answer:  The most successful nutrition programs are doctor directed and staff driven. Give you staff a percentage of sales and watch them skyrocket.

Question: What is the most popular nutritional program I can add to my practice for the New Year?

Answer:  Weight Loss!

Question: Should I recommend nutritional products for my patients children?

Answer:  Absolutely. Most children take a multivitamin. It’s an excellent opportunity to introduce them to chiropractic!
