[Special Research Report]: Chiropractic in America

Chiropractic Economics Staff January 29, 2018

Video Transcription

Hi. Welcome to another edition of Chiropractic Economics News Flash. I’m Dan Sosnoski, the editor-in-chief of Chiropractic Economics. I’m here today because we just got breaking news from the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress, that in the December 1st, 2017 issue of the The Spine Journal, we have the results of a meta-study and this one is titled “The prevalence, patterns, and predictors of chiropractic use among U.S. adults.”

These are the results of the 2012 National Health Information Survey. This was carried out over a 10-year period, from 2002 to 2012. And among the key findings, there’s a growing trend towards overall use of chiropractic. Reasons for seeing a chiropractor, the top-line ones were back pain, 60%, neck pain, about 30%. However, there were other things that people were seeing chiropractors for, and this was what I wanted to share with you.

The majority of users report chiropractic helping them a great deal with their sense of wellness and health overall. And reasons that they said they were seeing their chiropractor included general health and disease prevention, to improve their energy, to improve their athletic and sports performance, and to improve immune system functioning.

And that’s not all, users also reported a greater sense of control over their overall health. It helps them to reduce their stress and anxieties levels, it helps them to sleep better, and to improve their overall health in general. These are all messages that you’ve been telling your patients that you can help them with and the numbers bear them out. This is an exciting study and I suggest you give it a look.

And that’s it for now. We’ll see you next time. I’m Dan Sosnoski bringing you the news.
