August 23, 2012 — The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) announced that it has endorsed the annual ChiroCode DeskBook — a guide to chiropractic coding, billing, and reimbursement.
Before the annual DeskBook goes to press each year it will be reviewed and approved by ChiroCode Institute and its committee of reviewers, in addition to receiving final editorial approval by ACA, so ACA members and the chiropractic profession in general can expect the same expert quality information they’ve had access to for years and have come to trust from both organizations.
“The U.S. healthcare system is in transition, making coding and billing more complicated — but also more important — than ever before,” said ACA President Keith Overland, DC. “ACA is pleased to work with ChiroCode, and its well-established product, to standardize these processes throughout the profession, so that our doctors can get back to helping their patients.”
Each edition of the ChiroCode DeskBook includes the latest information on:
- Practice management
- Insurance and reimbursement
- Medicare
- Documentation, claims and appeals
- Compliance and audit protection
- Diagnosis, procedure and supply codes
“ChiroCode Institute is looking forward to working more closely with ACA, a known leader within the profession, to produce a collaborative tool for chiropractic physicians across the country,” said LaMont J. Leavitt, ChiroCode Institute CEO. “Doctors face ongoing challenges with audits, payers, Medicare and a changing coding landscape. Proper coding, documentation and billing have never been more important, not only for accuracy, but for getting doctors the reimbursement they deserve.”
The 2013 ChiroCode DeskBook contains current code excerpts for chiropractic from ICD-9-CM, CPT and HCPCS, with new information about making the transition to ICD-10-CM coding. It also includes free online tools including: the Medicare Fee Calculator for Chiropractic Codes, full-sized customizable forms and more.
“Chiropractic physicians are tasked with staying on top of the latest in running their businesses and the latest in providing the best patient care,” said Leo Bronston, DC and chairman of ACA’s Coding Reimbursement Committee. “Having a comprehensive tool, that is updated annually, is a must for every chiropractic practice. And doctors can rest assured when they purchase a DeskBook, because it comes from two trusted names within the profession.”
This fall, ACA will begin offering the 2013 ChiroCode DeskBook, at a discount to ACA members, through ShopACA.com. It will also be available at chirocode.com and other chiropractic distribution channels and stores.
