TCC to host research day and public health week

Chiropractic Economics Staff February 23, 2012

February 23, 2012 — Texas Chiropractic College and its Center for Health Promotion and Human Performance are excited to host the Second Annual Research Day and Public Health Week April 2-5. Prizes will be awarded to students and faculty for research posters, plus door prizes will be given away based on attendance of the week’s events.

For students and faculty interested in the research poster competition, a short, unstructured abstract must be submitted to Dr. Will Evans, director of research, by noon Friday, March 16. The final posters are due by noon Tuesday, April 3.  The awards ceremony will be held Thursday, April 5 with prizes of $500 for first place, $250 for second place, and $100 for third place (available in both student and faculty divisions).

Eligible topics include: case-study presentations, clinical reviews, which review the pertinent literature on a clinical topic, or original research if there is any being done. These require a bibliography from accepted scientific sources to support them, and the abstract can be unstructured as long as it follows an accepted format.

For more information about abstract and poster requirements, please contact Evans at wevans@txchiro.edu or 281-998-6076.

This year marks the second for TCC to participate in National Public Health Week (NPHW), an annual event organized by the American Public Health Association (APHA) since 1995.

Each year the APHA develops a national campaign to educate the public, policymakers and practitioners about issues related to that year’s theme. APHA creates comprehensive planning, organizing and outreach materials that can be used during and after the week to raise awareness. The theme for 2012 is “A Healthier America Begins Today: Join The Movement.” Learn more at nphw.org.
