UB announces new scholarship for acupuncture studies in China

Chiropractic Economics Staff February 17, 2012

February 17, 2012 — The University of Bridgeport announced a new scholarship for one of its Acupuncture Institute student to learn more about traditional Chinese medicine in Shanghai during the summer of 2012.

The scholarship includes travel to and accommodations in China, and the opportunity to spend two weeks study with Dr. Ji Quig, director of acupuncture at Shanghai Hospital, which is affiliated with Shanghai College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

To qualify, students must be graduating from the University if Bridgeport Acupuncture Institute (UBAI) between December 2011 and December 2012, have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, and meet other criterion.

For more information, contact UBAI Director Dr. Jennifer Brett at jbrett@bridgeport.edu or 203-576-4038.

Deadline for the scholarship application is May 1, 2012.

“Traditional Chinese medicine was born within the milieu of Chinese culture, including Confucianism and Taoism. Studying in China, students are able to better understand how the Chinese culture has influenced TCM,” said Brett. “Acupuncture practitioners who study in China often say participating in a study of the medicine in China is life-changing, thrilling, and immensely rewarding. We’re thrilled to offer the scholarship.”

The new program, Brett added, “greatly enhances opportunities already available to UBAI students to work with patients and get in-the-field training.”
