Nordic Naturals introduces ProOmega-3.6.9

Chiropractic Economics December 17, 2011

December 17, 2011 — Nordic Naturals recently introduced ProOmega-3.6.9, a targeted omega fatty acid blend that is said to have an exceptionally high concentration of the important omega-3s EPA and DHA, along with the omega-6 GLA (gamma linolenic acid) from borage oil. Offering balanced omega nutrition, ProOmega-3.6.9 delivers 750 mg EPA, 375 mg DHA, and 76 mg GLA in each serving.

ProOmega-3.6.9 was formulated to support healthy joints, skin, immune function, and the body’s natural anti-inflammatory response by promoting the production of PGE1 and PGE3. According to Keri Marshall, MS, ND, Nordic Naturals chief medical officer, “In today’s diet, we typically see a deficiency of the most important EFAs due to overconsumption of seed oils, processed foods and meat. Supplementation has become a reliable and effective means for getting these essential nutrients. With the addition of GLA, ProOmega-3.6.9 provides excellent support for the production of natural prostaglandins that combat inflammation.”

Borage oil has two to three times more GLA than other common omega-6 sources, making it an ideal complement to premium omega-3 oils. Similar in function to omega-3s, GLA supports the body’s natural anti-inflammatory pathways. Studies suggest that borage oil has excellent tolerability, a feature that may appeal to those concerned about the adverse effects of conventional anti-inflammatory treatments.

“Health practitioners can count on Nordic Naturals for the freshest and purest omega oils. All Nordic Naturals concentrates, including ProOmega-3.6.9, are in the triglyceride form for maximum absorption,” adds Marshall. “Efficacy and patient compliance are two important areas where we have focused our attention in order to deliver powerful solutions for our practitioners and their patients.”
