Chiropractic Economics December 16, 2011

December 16, 2011 — Cleveland Chiropractic College (CCC) held its Fall 2011 commencement ceremony Dec. 9 in the Assembly Hall on campus. Thirty-one graduates were honored and Dr. Paul Barlett, dean of pre-clinical education, presented each with a diploma conferring their doctor of chiropractic degree.

Dr. Jill Davis ’07, chair of Basic Sciences, gave introductory remarks and Dr. Kim Hamilton ’92, professor, administered the chiropractic oath. Faculty marshals selected by the graduates were Dr. Bryan Bond and Dr. Michael Whitehead.

College President Dr. Carl S. Cleveland III introduced Dr. Daniel Fahnestock, a 1965 CCC graduate and a member of the College’s board of trustees, who gave the commencement address. Cleveland III spoke to conclude the ceremony, giving his charge to the graduating class.

Fall 2011 graduates were Chad Barnes, Patrick Barry, Justin Bashor, Samuel Beugelsdijk, Jeffrey Breithaupt, Adam Dinkel, Jared Dunlap, Michael Hinds, Breanne Hinz, Julie Holland, Kaleigh Jones-Clark, Jennifer Knobbe, Matthew Lane, Douglas McDuffee, Meryl Miller, Thomas Murray, Joel Pistello, Tiffany Poterbin, Sarah Potthoff, Evan Rowe, Travis Seeber, Mary Surridge, Scott Taylor, Christopher Thornburgh, Valerie Tolen, Kelli Trecek, Cody Vitt, Kiley Willis, Suzanne Wolverton, Samuel Yoder and Weston Zenner. Yoder was named the valedictorian. Barnes, Barry, Beugelsdijk, Hinz, Knobbe, Miller, Poterbin, Potthoff, Trecek, Willis, Wolverton and Zenner all graduated with honors.

During the annual “President’s Banquet” held the night before graduation, several other graduates received honors and awards. Dr. Robert Moore, associate chair of clinical sciences, presented Clinic Service Awards to Barry, Hinz, Murray, Poterbin and Zenner. Murray and Zenner also received Clinic Excellence Awards during the banquet.

Davis then inducted six graduates into the Pi Tau Delta National Chiropractic Honor Society, which is a significant achievement for those selected. To be eligible for membership, graduating students must achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher, have never received a letter grade lower than a “B” and have never withdrawn from a class. Those graduates inducted into the honor society were Barry, Beugelsdijk, Hinz, Knobbe, Miller and Yoder.
