NCMIC Foundation announces 2011 McAndrews’ Award

April 5, 2011 — The NCMIC Foundation awarded Pierre Côté, DC, PhD, with the Jerome F. McAndrews, DC, Memorial Research Fund Award March 18, 2011, at the Association of Chiropractic Colleges Educational Conference and Research Agenda Conference (ACC-RAC).

As a recipient of the McAndrews’ Award, Côté was recognized for his distinguished track record to advance science, many research collaborations, and high ethical standards.

Côté studies many topics, which include: whiplash, manipulation and stroke, worker injuries, low back, and neck pain. Côté’s research is internationally known and crosses many disciplines. He has published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals and continues to be productive in many fields.

Not only does Côté have an incredible work ethic, he also supports others to rise to a higher standard in their research. He was intimately involved with the Bone and Joint Decade 2000-2010 Task Force on Neck Pain and its Associated Disorders, which has made a tremendous impact on the chiropractic profession.

The Jerome F. McAndrews, DC, Memorial Research Fund was created by the NCMIC Foundation to honor McAndrews’ longtime support of the scientific and practical advancement of the study of chiropractic. It provides an award each year to a worthy research recipient. This award recognizes an individual or a group who has demonstrated exceptional ability to:

• Advance research and the exchange of scientific information
• Promote high ethical standards in research and/or practice
• Contribute to practical applications to chiropractic practice
• Interact professionally with other individuals and groups involved in relevant research and application
