Sherman College hosts inaugural First Responders Day

Chiropractic Economics Staff October 3, 2025

On Friday, October 3, 2025, Sherman College of Chiropractic will host the inaugural First Responders Day at the Sherman Chiropractic Center to honor these brave men and women.

First Responders Day at Sherman College of Chiropractic

The free event will feature complimentary spinal screenings, one-on-one sessions with chiropractic interns and guided tours of Sherman’s campus. Attendees will also enjoy light refreshments and gain valuable information about spinal health and wellness.

“We understand the burden these individuals carry—both physically and emotionally—so our goal is to help lighten that load by offering meaningful resources and care,” noted a press release.

“First responders embody the very best of service and sacrifice. Whether its firefighters running toward danger, law enforcement answering every call, or EMTs and dispatchers providing critical care in moments of crisis, these men and women protect and strengthen our communities every day,” said Jack Bourla, DC, Sherman president. “At Sherman College, we are honored to recognize their courage and extend our gratitude for the countless ways they keep us safe.”

Sherman’s Security and Safety Manager, Kevin Likes, a US Army veteran and former Spartanburg County Detention Center officer, shares how regular chiropractic care has allowed him to see the value to his everyday life. “As I’ve gotten older, health and wellness have become paramount. Chiropractic care has played a large part in helping me understand my body and maintain my health. I’m excited to extend a personal invitation to my fellow first responders.”

Sherman’s event comes at a meaningful time, as the nation prepares to recognize First Responders Day on October 28. “At Sherman, we believe their service deserves to be celebrated not just for one day, but throughout October and beyond,” adds President Bourla. “Given the significant physical and mental demands first responders face, we invite them to discover how chiropractic care can support a sustainable wellness plan throughout their career and life.”

To ensure as many first responders have the opportunity to participate, Sherman will also offer spinal screenings throughout the month of October, both on campus and on-site at first responder facilities.
