2010 Arnold Schwarzenegger scholarship essay competition underway

January 12, 2010 — ICA’s Council on Fitness and Sports Health Science announced essays are now being accepted for the 2010 Arnold Schwarzenegger Scholarship Essay Competition.

The deadline for submission is Feb. 22, 2010. This competition is open to all members of the Student International Chiropractors Association (SICA), and participants are asked to submit an essay on the theme of, “The Human Spine – A Structure Designed to be in Motion.”

This theme has been chosen to focus students’ attention on the relationship between healthy exercise and a healthy spine. to the essay should not exceed 1,250 words, excluding references and footnotes. Winners will be selected by a five-member panel, with submissions blinded to assure objectivity. Awards will be of a minimum of $1,000, but are variable up to $2,500 depending on the number of winning applications.

The successful applicants will be awarded their scholarships by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and ICA Fitness Council President Dr. Gerald R. Mattia at the 18th Annual ICA Symposium on Natural Fitness on March 6, 2010 in Columbus, Ohio. The successful papers will also be published by the ICA.
