April 29, 2011 — Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and survivors of the deadly tornadoes that struck the Southern and Midwestern regions of the country recently. Reports indicate that the storms have killed as many as 284 people in six states. Many more have been impacted by the disaster.
The American Chiropractic Association has attempted to reach out to state chiropractic associations in the affected areas. At this time, no loss of life has been reported within the chiropractic community; but sadly, some homes and business have been damaged or destroyed.
“My heart goes out to everyone affected by these devastating storms,” said ACA President Dr. Rick McMichael. “But I know that the chiropractic community will band together and provide support to colleagues in need during the difficult weeks and months ahead.”
DCs interested in assisting on the ground can join a disaster response team by contacting their local chapter of the American Red Cross. The American Red Cross is also collecting funds to assist with the relief efforts. For more links, visit www.acatoday.org/disasterrelief.
Lastly, since tornadoes can appear suddenly and without warning, Ready America has prepared a guide to tornado readiness here.
