July 14, 2010 — At the annual meeting of the Council of the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) in Budapest, Hungary, a new executive was elected for a two-year term. Newly elected members are:
• President: J. Michael Flynn, DC
• First Vice-President: Dennis Richards, DC
• Second Vice-President: Greg Stewart, DC
• Secretary-Treasurer: Espen Johannessen, DC
The final member of the Executive is Dr. Efstathios Papadopoulos of Cyprus, now Past-President, who represents the Chiropractors’ Association of Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
“It is truly an honor and privileged to have been elected President”, said Dr. Flynn, “especially given the outstanding presidents who have served before me, most recently my friend and colleague Dr. Stathis Papadopoulos whose contribution has been immense”.
Dr. Flynn is a second generation DC born in Davenport, Iowa. His father John, a Palmer graduate, practiced for 20 years without a license in Louisiana and was president of the state association in 1974, when the state became the last to license and regulate the profession in the Unites States. Dr. Michael
Flynn graduated with honors from Texas Chiropractic College in 1975.
During the course of his career he has served as president of the Chiropractic Association of Louisiana and the Louisiana StateLouisiana for 6 years and served 6 years on the ACA Board of Governors, two as chairman. He was the first chairman of the Board of Examiners. He was the ACA delegate from
National Chiropractic Legal Action Fund and is also a past president of his local chamber of commerce.
He is a past recipient of Chiropractor of the Year in Louisiana and the ACA.
Married to Darlene, he is the father of three daughters and five grandchildren. He currently serves on the board of the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (www.f4cp.org) and as chairman of the Student American Chiropractic Association Committee. He also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees at Parker Chiropractic College.
Dr. Flynn attended his first WFC Congress as one of three ACA representatives on the WFC Council in Paris-2001. In 2004 he was elected to the WFC Executive Committee as Treasurer, and he has served on the Executive Committee since that time, most recently as 1st Vice President.
