On Sept. 19 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern (5:00 p.m. Pacific), Zimmer MedizinSystems will host a one-hour webinar, “Advanced Healing & Pain Management: HEIT – High Energy Inductive Therapy with emFieldPro,” featuring speaker Rod Tomczak, MD, EdD.
High-energy inductive therapy and its uses
The webinar will explore high-energy inductive therapy (HEIT), a cutting-edge treatment modality that utilizes electromagnetic fields to stimulate tissue healing, and the practical applications of the emFieldPro, a HEIT device from Zimmer’s product line. Led by Tomczak, this session will showcase how HEIT can be used to treat various pathologies, offering noninvasive interventions for chronic pain and muscular disorders.
Tomczak will discuss the mechanisms of HEIT, including the therapeutic and diagnostic uses of the electromagnetic spectrum and unique frequencies. He will also clarify the differences between pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy and HEIT, highlighting HEIT’s more intensive therapeutic effect, and address relative and absolute contraindications for safe and effective application.
The powerful effect of emFieldPro and HEIT
In a recent case study, Tomczak highlighted his treatment of a patient with arthrogenic muscular inhibition (AMI) with patella baja, showcasing the use of the emFieldPro HEIT as well as the enPuls Advanced Radial Shockwave Therapy device, another Zimmer product, to help the patient avoid an above-knee amputation. This compelling example demonstrates the transformative potential of HEIT.
Tomczak published a feature article about the case study in Chiropractic Economics magazine detailing this breakthrough treatment. In it, he describes how the patient, a man in his 70s, recovered a significant amount of functionality after spending several years in a largely non-ambulatory state.
“Five months of HEIT electromagnetic therapy and one month of ESWT resulted in significantly more gains in the treatment of AMI and patella baja than over three years of conventional PT,” Tomczak wrote in the article.
A board-certified foot and ankle surgeon with over four decades of experience, Tomczak began his career in Monroe, Michigan, where he established a successful private practice, and later held the roles of Chair of Surgical Care, University Curriculum Committee Chair, and Surgical Residency Director at Des Moines University. During his time there, he earned a second doctorate in Curriculum and Adult Education from Drake University, then moved to The Ohio State University, where he served as Chair of the Problem-based Learning Curriculum and Co-chair of the Medical School Curriculum Committee. He has also been the founding dean of medical universities in Belize, Curaçao and Saudi Arabia.
