Tina Allen receives the Massage Therapy Foundation/Performance Health Humanitarian Award

Chiropractic Economics October 25, 2012

L to R: Marshall Dahneke, president and CEO, Performance Health; Tina Allen, LMT; Ruth Werner, president, Massage Therapy Foundation; Lynda Solien-Wolfe, education director for Massage and Spa, Performance HealthOctober 25, 2012 — Tina Allen, LMT, was presented the Massage Therapy Foundation/Performance Health 2012 Humanitarian Award at this year’s American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) convention held in Raleigh, N.C.

Performance Health, manufacturer and marketer of Biofreeze, Prossage, Thera-Band, and Pedigenix health and wellness products, partners with the Massage Therapy Foundation to present this award annually. Allen, a pioneer in the field of pediatric massage, was honored for her efforts in embracing the power of massage and the mission of the Massage Therapy Foundation to promote education and research while serving others.

With more than a decade of service to children and families, Allen, founder of Liddle Kidz Foundation (LKF), a leading children’s health and nurturing touch organization, has become an internationally respected educator, author, and expert in the field of infant and pediatric massage therapy. She is a pediatric massage master teacher and a licensed massage therapist, who has dedicated her life to sharing the nurturing effects of touch with compromised children around the world.

Allen managed the country’s first comprehensive pediatric massage program at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) and developed pediatric massage programs at Mattel Children’s Hospital at UCLA and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She is currently consulting with a number of leading medical institutions internationally to implement safe and effective pediatric massage programs.

“It is truly an honor to recognize Tina, a caring therapist, a devoted educator, and someone who is truly dedicated to building and strengthening massage,” stated Marshall Dahneke, president and CEO of Performance Health. “One key to being a true humanitarian is to find joy in our journey — by sharing unselfishly with others. Tina, through her countless hours training healthcare and volunteer providers around the world on the benefits of massage, often focusing on the smallest of small and the neediest of the needy, is a true humanitarian.”

“It is my belief that with nurturing, compassion and touch therapy, children will develop and reach their full potential,” stated Allen. “I am so honored to receive this award and grateful for the awareness it may create for my organization. To be recognized for doing something that you love to do is amazing.”

In addition to providing Allen with an award plaque, Performance Health donated $2,500 to the Massage Therapy Foundation in her name.

Ruth Werner, president of the Massage Therapy Foundation stated “It is a great privilege to recognize Tina Allen and her work with this Humanitarian Award. The Massage Therapy Foundation was pleased to support her work in Japan, addressing the needs of children affected by the devastating tsunami of 2011. We hope that Tina and the Liddle Kidz Foundation will continue to bring the gift of touch to many more children.”
