The WAVE

Chiropractic Economics Staff January 24, 2019

A view of oakland, the location of the WAVE

Event Website: lifewestwave.com

Hosted by: Life
Chiropractic College West

Location: Northern
California, Bay Area (Oakland)

Time of Year: August

Length of Event: 3
days (Friday through Sunday)

Attendance
Information:
More than 1,600 individuals attend The WAVE annually, some of
whom travel from other countries in an effort to stay up to date on the latest
in chiropractic, network with others, and be able to hear directly from
industry experts.

The cost of attending this event depends on whether you’re a
chiropractic assistant (CA) or doctor of chiropractic (DC). If you’re neither a
CA nor DC but still want to attend as a general public member, you can at a
specialized rate.

Types of Topics Covered: Each year, The WAVE sets an event theme that is created to increase attendee knowledge of the science, art, and philosophy of chiropractic at the time. Therefore, the topics covered each year revolve around that central theme and have included:

  • The
    Salutogenic Model
    – embracing the mind-body connection to achieve greater
    wellness (2019)
  • Optimal
    Potential
    – how potential impacts chiropractic, patient health, and life in
    general (2018)
  • Minds That
    Matter
    – chiropractic’s affect on the brain (2017)

Past Speakers: A
few of the speakers at previous WAVE events—both within the healthcare industry
and those offering advice in other areas related to health, wellness, and
personal and professional development—have included.

  • Dan Murphy, DC
  • Bruce Lipton, PhD
  • Ted Carrick, DC, PhD
  • Amy Purdy, Paralympic snowboarder medalist,
bestselling author, and founder of Adaptive Action Sports

CE Availability: Continuing
education (CE) credits are available to those who attend The WAVE, usually
somewhere around 20 to 25 hours in total. Additional CE credits are also
offered online.

Vendors: There
are exhibition booths set up at The WAVE, so attendees can meet with businesses
intent on advancing both your practice and the chiropractic profession as a
whole.

Additional
Information:
In the past, there have been additional events available for
WAVE attendees who are alumni of Life West, such as a reunion and President’s
luncheon.

And if you’re interested in mentoring students of
chiropractic, you can sign up for the Life Chiropractic College West Mentor
Doctor Program at The WAVE.

The dress code is business casual.
