The benefits to using drop tables for disc injuries

If you’ve been diagnosed with a disc injury, then you’re likely looking for a treatment solution that will make you pain-free and help you get back to engaging in activities you enjoy.

One option to consider is spinal manipulation via a chiropractic drop table, as this particular option can provide positive results for some of the most common disc injuries.

Common disc injuries

Injuries to the discs in your spine can come in many forms. For instance, you could be involved in a car accident or a slip-and-fall and injure a disc or two (or more), or you could have degenerative disc disease, a condition in which your discs deteriorate with age. Also, some disc injuries occur if you lift something heavy without proper back support or if you exercise without using the right form.

According to WebMD, most disc-related spinal injuries occur in your lower back, also known as the lumbar region of your spine (where the vertebrae are referred to as starting with the letter “L,” like L4 or L5). Injuries to this area can make everyday activities that involve bending over, twisting, and even sitting, very painful to endure.

The good news is that no matter what the cause of your disc injury, chiropractic care involving the use of a drop table may be your best solution.

The benefits of drop tables

Spinal manipulation can help ease the pain and potentially correct the issue with your disc or discs, and drop tables make the process easier for patients and chiropractors both. Because using a drop table requires less effort, there is less force being placed on the patient, which also means that the chiropractor has an easier time getting the spinal column in place. Essentially, gravity is used to help enhance the movement, making it a more natural treatment method.

Drop tables are also beneficial for disc injury patients who are larger in size or women who are pregnant. Because it may be harder to manipulate their bodies based on their current physical condition, a drop table is able to provide better results than the chiropractor may have been able to obtain on his or her own.

Additionally, drop tables allow the chiropractor to set just the right amount of tension and drop based on the injury that is present. That means the treatment is specialized to your particular disc injury, which also brings about the best possible outcome.
