November 19, 2010 — Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) and Texas Southern University (TSU) entered into an academic partnership, signing an articulation agreement on Nov. 15, 2010 at TSU’s campus.
This agreement serves to facilitate the admission and academic transfer of students from TSU to TCC and will ensure a seamless transition of students seeking to complete their Bachelor of Science degree from TSU, while at the same time pursuing a Doctor of Chiropractic degree through TCC.
The agreement, which is effective immediately, will enable future and current TSU students to complete both degrees in six years, with the first three occurring at TSU and the final three at TCC.
Also at Monday’s signing, representatives from both institutions discussed the opportunities for future collaborations in the areas of research, clinical experiences, and other aspects of academia including potential dual-degree, graduate-level programs.
“I am very excited about the signing of this articulation agreement with TSU, and the opportunities that become available to both our institutions as we work more closely with such a stalwart of Houston higher education,” shared Dr. Richard G. Brassard, Texas Chiropractic College president. “This agreement will be a tremendous benefit, to not just the institutions, but especially to the students. We already have several graduates of TSU enrolled at TCC, and they have served as great representatives of both colleges. I can’t wait to welcome more Tigers to the TCC family.”
Dr. Sunny Ohia, provost and vice president for academic affairs and research at TSU noted that “This is a tremendous opportunity for these two institutions to leverage resources. It will enable our students the opportunities to be professionals (at TCC) in addition to having their background training here at TSU, and conversely, for students at TCC to have access to graduate programs at TSU. It’s great and a win-win situation.”
