Table sanitization gets increased attention in chiropractic

Chiropractic Economics April 19, 2011

April 19, 2011 — Prior to 2006, there was little mention of table sanitation in chiropractic literature. Since then, however, much more research has been done to support the need for table sanitation within the profession.

Microbes and pathogens, including methicillin-resistant Staph aureus, have been found on the surfaces of chiropractic tables used in chiropractic colleges and some private practices.

As per the American Chiropractic Association’s (ACA) policy on hygienic recommendations for the chiropractic profession, ACA encourages DCs to stay up to date on the latest hygiene information available and use that information to provide a safer environment for patients, staff, and themselves.
