November 28, 2011 — On Monday, the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, informally known as the “Super Committee,” admitted that after more than three months of negotiations, a possible a bipartisan agreement before the committees statutory deadline was no longer possible.
The Super Committee, created under the Budget Control Act of 2011, had until Wednesday, Nov. 23, to reach an agreement on reducing the U.S. Budget deficit by $1.2 to $1.5 trillion over 10 years.
