May 30, 2014 — Two massage therapy students received $500 Successful Hands grants during Student Day at the ONE Concept Conference on Friday, May 16.
The Successful Hands Grant Program, launched through the collaborative efforts of Biofreeze, Massage Envy Spa and Bon Vital’, supports the professional massage therapy student in their educational pursuits. ONE Concept, the conference organizer, partnered with Biofreeze, Massage Envy Spa and Bon Vital’ to promote the grant program during the conference. Two additional $500 Successful Hands grants will be awarded in partnership at the September ONE Concept conference in San Diego.
Student Jessica Ward from Georgia Career Institute in Conyers, Georgia, and graduate Karen Young from Southeastern Institute, Columbia, South Carolina, were each presented $500 Successful Hands grants by GC Funk, vice president of industry relations and product development at Massage Envy Spa Franchising; Scott Dartnall, president and CEO at ONE Concept; and Lynda Solien-Wolfe, vice president of massage and spa, Marshall Dahneke, CEO, and Thomas Heidenberger, vice president of sales and marketing, all from Performance Health/Biofreeze and Bon Vital’ brands.
“Congratulations to Karen and Jessica on winning a Successful Hands Grant. We hope that these funds further support their efforts towards a successful massage therapy career,” Funk said. “It was truly inspiring to meet the students in attendance knowing that they’ll soon be making a difference through of healing power of touch.”
“I’d like to add my congratulations and thank ONE Concept for their support of our new grant program,” Dahneke said. “We believe collaborative programs such as this provide real opportunities for all of us to contribute to our profession’s strength and secure its future.”

Current massage therapy students can also apply for one of five $1,000 Successful Hands grants. The grant application process requires students to complete an essay of 200 words or less on “What does being a
successful massage therapist mean to me?” A team of industry representatives will review all submissions to choose the five winners. In addition, each winner’s school will receive a $500 grant and a $500 product package.
Student applications must be received by October 15 and will be accepted online at www.SuccessfulHandsGrants.com beginning June 1. Winners will be notified no later than December 1. The grant funds can be used for program fees, books and supplies, licensing, association membership or to purchase product and equipment.
