Student stipend recipients share experiences from ACCRAC 2025

Chiropractic Economics Staff May 6, 2025

Chiropractic Future Strategic Plan logoChiropractic Future supported a group of outstanding student scholars who attended the 2025 Association of Chiropractic Colleges Research Agenda Conference (ACCRAC).

This premier chiropractic research event provided a platform for students to connect with experts, share ideas and deepen their understanding of the profession’s future. For the students, ACCRAC 2025 was more than a professional milestone—it was a meaningful, transformative experience that strengthened their passion for chiropractic and reaffirmed their commitment to it.

Student researcher spotlight

Edgardo Samuel Perez Martinez, a student from the Universidad Central del Caribe, described the conference as a pivotal moment in his academic journey. From presenting his case study, “AtlantoOccipital Assimilation Not Initially Identified on a Plain Radiograph Exam – A Case Report Describing the Chiropractic Treatment Outcomes of a Rare Craniovertebral Anomaly,” to receiving insightful feedback, Edgardo emphasized how the experience helped him grow as a researcher and future DC.

“Attending ACCRAC was a rewarding experience both professionally and personally,” Martinez said. “Connecting with others in the field and having the chance to explain my research helped strengthen my commitment to patient-centered care and ongoing learning.”

Qian Zhang, a student from Palmer College of Chiropractic and first-time attendee, found ACCRAC to be a dynamic environment for growth and connection. He presented his abstract, “The Impact of Alternative Medicine on Microgravity-Induced Physical Ailments – A Literature Review,” while also networking with leaders in academia and exploring future publishing opportunities.

“It was incredible to be part of this community,” Zhang said. “The energy, the passion and the conversations I had throughout the event were truly motivating. I left feeling more inspired than ever to contribute to the field.”

Michael Robles, a student from Southern California University of Health Sciences, reflected on the power of being surrounded by peers and professionals who share his passion for advancing chiropractic care. He presented his abstract, “Comparative Cost Analysis of Neck Pain Treatments for Medicare Beneficiaries.”

“The entire experience—from presenting to attending sessions to meeting new colleagues—was incredibly enriching,” Robles said. “I gained new insights, built meaningful connections, and came away with renewed excitement for my future in chiropractic.”

ACCRAC 2025 offered these students far more than just an opportunity to present research. It provided mentorship, community and inspiration—affirming the value of student participation in national conferences and the critical role of emerging voices in shaping the field. Supporting students in their research journey is essential to cultivating innovation and advancing evidence-informed chiropractic care. With continued support, Chiropractic Future can help more students access these transformative experiences and ensure a strong, vibrant future for the profession.
