States removing limitations for chiropractic distance-based continuing education

Chiropractic Economics April 10, 2020

Seven states have removed limitations on distance-based learning for the current renewal period for chiropractors.

“I’ve been contacted by many licensees asking why they can’t use distanced learning for all their hours in their state,” said chiropractor Guy Annunziata. “Doctors are facing reduced or no patient volume and they want to use this time effectively and doing their continuing ed online is something they want to do.”

States that have removed limitations:

INDIANA – In response to the COVID-19 crisis, the Indiana Board of Chiropractic Examiners has announced they will ACCEPT ALL hours by distanced-based learning for the current renewal period ending on 7/1/2020.

IOWA – In response to the COVID-19 crisis, for the continuing education year ending on 6/30/2020, the Governor of Iowa issued a proclamation which eliminated all live requirements for continuing education for relicensure. The governor states that you can meet all of your continuing education requirements for this renewal period using online continuing education.

NEBRASKA – As per the governor’s Executive Order 20-10, chiropractors may obtain all 36 of the required CE hours online until the state of emergency is lifted.

UTAH – In response to the COVID-19 crisis, for the continuing education year ending on 5/31/2020, the State of Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing has suspended live requirements for continuing education for relicensure.  You can meet all of your continuing education requirements for this renewal period using online continuing education for this renewal period.

WASHINGTON – In the state of Washington, the Chiropractic Quality Assurance Commission now allows chiropractors to obtain all of their CE from online media in place of live seminars.

WEST VIRGINIA – For the renewal period ending 6/30/2020, the West Virginia Board of Chiropractic has lifted the limitation on online learning.  Chiropractors may now obtain all 18-hours online.

WYOMING – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Wyoming Board of Chiropractic has lifted the limitation on online learning for the renewal period ending 8/31/2020.  Chiropractors can obtain all their CE requirement online.

More states are anticipated to adopt new policies as stay-at-home orders from states increase due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
