Start PQRI reporting in July to be eligible for Medicare bonus

Chiropractic Economics June 24, 2010

June 24, 2010 — Did you know the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will make participation in the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) mandatory beginning in 2015?

In fact, physicians who do not satisfactorily submit measures to PQRI will have their Medicare payments reduced. In 2015, the reduction will be 1.5 percent, and in 2016 and beyond, the reduction will be 2 percent.

Before these disincentives are implemented, ACA encourages its members to begin participating in PQRI to become familiar with the program and its requirements. Plus, providers who successfully participate are eligible to receive an incentive bonus from Medicare. For 2010, providers can qualify for a 2-percent incentive bonus by reporting on 80 percent of eligible patients for six months, beginning July 2010.

Get all the details on ACA’s PQRI Web page, and also look for an article on this topic in the July issue of ACA News.
