April 24, 2018—Standard Process, a family-owned manufacturer of therapeutic supplements, announced its intention last year to establish a center of excellence at the North Carolina Research Center in Kannapolis. Today the company held a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the opening of the Standard Process Nutrition Innovation Center.
In attendance at the event were members of the Standard Process leadership team, as well as North Carolina’s Lt. Governor Dan Forest; William Pilkington DPA, MPA, MA, CEO and director of public health, Cabarrus Health Alliance; and Mary Ann Lila, PhD, director, Plants for Human Health Institute and professor, North Carolina State University. Other dignitaries and health care professionals were on site to mark this occasion, which included the grand opening of the center, a tour of the facilities, and an educational seminar titled, “The Future of Integrative Healthcare.”
The Nutrition Innovation Center was established to enable Standard Process to further research in clinical, whole food nutrition, and use these laboratory facilities and collaborations with other researchers at the NCRC to spearhead research and practice-driven studies on a nationwide basis. Also onsite at the 10,000 sq. ft. complex is a media and learning center, which will support leading-edge education for health care professionals and nutrition researchers.
While Standard Process is widely recognized as an innovator in organic farming and nutrient-dense whole food nutrition, the new research center will support further advancements in these areas with its state-of-the-art laboratories and equipment. The 15-member research team at the Nutrition Innovation Center will be headed by John Troup, Standard Process VP of clinical science, education and innovation. Over time, his goal is to expand the on-site staff to 30 researchers.
