The first few months of your practice are critical; you will have lots of expenses and little income unless you can get people to pay you cash or you can get Medicare and insurance companies to pay you. It’s not unusual to wait up to six months to get the insurers to pay you.
Get a jump start to receiving payments from Medicare and insurance providers by becoming established as a Medicare provider. You can begin this process before you graduate and receive your license. The sooner you receive your provider status, the sooner you will be able to start receiving payments.
