Parker Alumni Association appoints executive committee

Chiropractic Economics November 15, 2011

November 15, 2011 — The Parker Alumni Association re-elected Dr. Vincent Scheffler and Dr. Scott Garber to serve on its executive committee. They also selected a new member to join the executive committee, Dr. Steven Brooks. The committee will lead the continuation of the vision, leadership, and legacy that has been established throughout the years.

“We have an outstanding group leading the alumni association,” said Timothy Gunn, director of alumni relations. “They’re really invested in the association and making sure each member reconnects and networks with fellow members as well as benefits from all of the other opportunities the association provides.”

Re-elected as president, Scheffler practices in Dallas at Reagan ChiroSport Center. Scheffler specializes in sports specific rehabilitation, is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP).

Scheffler’s love for sports and treating athletes multiplied as a Parker student when he attended the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games. He has experience treating various athletes including players of the Association of Volleyball Professionals and numerous professional cycling teams.

A new member of the executive committee, Brooks was selected to serve as vice president of the alumni association. Brooks has been practicing at Sunset Chiropractic in San Angelo, Texas for more than 10 years. From 2004 to 2009, he was awarded as San Angelo’s Favorite Chiropractor.

He specializes in golf fitness and is a level one, certified Titleist Performance Institute (TPI). He has served on several local and national boards including Make-A-Wish Foundation, Boys and Girls Club, and his local city council. He has also co-authored books such as The Healthy Alternative.

Garber was selected to serve another term as treasurer and also spearheads the New England chapter of the Parker Network, which enables alumni and friends of Parker to remain connected to the institution and active within the chiropractic community.

Garber practiced for many years in Australia before returning to the United States and setting up his clinic, Chiropractic Works, in Lenox, Mass. He has traveled the world to bring chiropractic to people in Czech Republic, Germany, Singapore, Thailand, and more. In 2006, Garber and his wife Greta self-funded and created the first chiropractic mission to Sri Lanka.

Membership in the Parker Alumni Association is all-inclusive and welcomes Parker graduates, doctors of chiropractic, chiropractic assistants, massage therapists, corporations, and wellness supporters to join them in their pursuit of excellence. In all its endeavors, the alumni association strives to support and encourage all members to achieve the highest level of success in their fields.
