Northwestern Health Sciences University announced the creation of a new residency in its growing Human Performance Center.
The new position, noted an NWHSU blog post, will help advance research, teaching and awareness of critical custom orthotics in enhancing stability for the back, knees, hips, pelvis and neck.
This new position will be called the Foot Levelers Residency and is made possible through funding from Foot Levelers in partnership with the university. The person who holds the position will lead custom orthotics research projects in the HPC, advise student interns and teach about custom orthotics and products in NWHSU classes, clinics, and continuing education offerings and provide guidance in the NWHSU clinics on best practices in custom orthotics.
“We are so grateful to Foot Levelers for their partnership in creating this opportunity to develop researchers for our chiropractic and other professions,” said Deb Bushway, PhD, president of NWHSU.
“This is an exciting opportunity to deepen research competencies by supporting developing professionals to gain experience in applied research,” Bushway continued. “Foot Levelers has been a valued partner with us for decades as it has worked to develop healthcare products leading to better patient outcomes.”
“We are so excited to partner with NWUHS to support the addition of the Foot Levelers Residency program in the Human Performance Center,” said Jamie Greenawalt, president of Foot Levelers. “Our mission is to bolster research at the University by providing additional resources and focus in this much-needed area of education.”
In addition to the residency, Foot Levelers established in 2022 the Foot Levelers Chair in Biomechanics and Human Performance at NWHSU to advance the biomechanics field. That position is held by Andy Klein, DC, DACBSP, CSCS, head of NWHSU’s Human Performance Center.
