Northwestern Health Sciences University mobilizes successful day at the Capitol

Chiropractic Economics March 31, 2010

March 31, 2010 — Hundreds of students from Northwestern Health Sciences University joined with scores of chiropractors from the Minnesota Chiropractic Association (MCA) for the annual MCA Day at the Capitol on March 16, 2010.

The event was organized by the MCA with Northwestern in an effort to raise awareness of legislative issues related to chiropractic, acupuncture and Oriental medicine, massage therapy and natural health care.

Mark Zeigler, DC, president of Northwestern, gave welcome remarks at an early-morning breakfast reception on campus, kicking off the day. State Sens. John Doll, (DFL) District 40, and Ken Kelash (DFL) District 63, also spoke at the breakfast.

The MCA contingent spent the day visiting their senators and representatives, talking about updating the chiropractic scope of practice; ensuring that access to chiropractic care is not eliminated in healthcare reform proposals; and the proposed voluntary state-wide licensure for massage therapists.
