Northwestern Health Sciences University grad receives service award

Chiropractic Economics February 27, 2009

February 27, 2009 — Mark Garnett, DC, a 2001 graduate of Northwestern HealthSciences University, has recently been awarded the Biofreeze Thera-Band Humanitarian Award. The award was given out during the Chiropractic Homecoming and Winter Gathering event in early February 2009.

Garnett is involved with a nonprofit organization called Open Cities Health Center in St. Paul, Minn. The organization offers comprehensive healthcare to families with and without insurance, including medical, dental, mental health, support groups, and various educational programs. As of Dec. 1, 2008, with the persistence of Garnett, chiropractic was finally offered in the clinic as well.

With the acceptance of the Biofreeze Thera-Band Humanitarian Award, Garnett was given $500 to donate to an organization of his choice.  He chose to donate half of the funds to the National Breast Cancer Foundation and half to Open Cities Health Center.
