July 22, 2011 — Michele Maiers, DC, MPH, associate dean of research at Northwestern Health Sciences University and principal in the University’s Center for Health Care Innovation and Policy, was a guest speaker on Minnesota Public Radio’s Midmorning show.
MPR invited Maiers to be a guest on a segment that aired in late June as a follow up to an earlier show that was highly critical of natural health care treatments. A June 27 MPR segment titled, “The ‘Triumph’ of New-Age Medicine” featured Steven Salzberg, professor of medicine and biostatistics at the McKusick Institute of Genetic Medicine, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Maiers got involved as the Minnesota delegate to the American Chiropractic Association when MPR contacted the ACA asking for someone to represent the profession. A number of listeners complained that the initial show was one-sided.
