Northwestern Health Sciences University announces associate dean position

Chiropractic Economics April 17, 2011

April 17, 2011 — Following a national search, Northwestern Health Sciences University named Christian Hanson, LAc, MOm, as associate dean of clinical education for the College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He will begin his fulltime duties April 18, 2011.

For the last year Hanson has practiced part-time at the Bloomington Natural Care Center. He also has six years experience as an acupuncturist at the Penny George Institute for Health and Healing at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, which is regarded as one of the premier integrative healthcare systems in the country.

According to Mark McKenzie, MOm, LAc, dean of the College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at Northwestern, Hanson brings a strong skill set in hospital-based acupuncture and electronic medical record. “He brings a lot of energy. We are very excited to have him on board.” McKenzie also thanked the search committee for their efforts.

Hanson is a licensed acupuncturist and Oriental medicine practitioner, and holds a master’s degree in Oriental Medicine from Northwestern. He is board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and is licensed by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.
