Event Website: acatoday.org/nclc2019
Hosted by: American Chiropractic Association (ACA)
Location: Washington
D.C.
Time of Year: 1st
quarter (January, February, or March)
Length of Event: 4
days (Wednesday through Saturday)
Attendance
Information: Hundreds of chiropractic professionals travel to Capitol Hill
each year to attend the National Chiropractic Leadership Conference (NCLC). The
cost of this event is based on whether you’re an ACA member, as well as your
status within the field (doctor of chiropractic, student, staff, spouse, or
guest).
Single day tickets are also available if you only want to
attend part of the event, and you can also pay more to register for certain
conference events, such as an FICC (Fellow of the International College of
Chiropractors) Luncheon or SACA (Student American Chiropractic Association)
Trivia, the latter of which you have to pay for only if you’re not a SACA
member.
Types of Topics
Covered: The NCLC consists of more than 20 different sessions, each of
which is designed to address important chiropractic topics, such as those
related to evidence in practice, ethics, or practice management. For instance,
some of the topics discussed at past events have included management of common
infant conditions, how to attract millennial patients, evidence-based
rehabilitation techniques, and online reputation management.
Past Speakers: A
few of the speakers who’ve shared their insights and knowledge at past NCLC
events include:
- Margaret Flinter, APRN, Phd
- James Lehman, DC, MBA
- James Cox, DC
- William E. Morgan, DC, President of Parker
University
CE Availability: Continuing
education (CE) credits are available with conference attendance. To earn then,
you must sign up when registering and pay an additional amount.
In the schedule, these are listed as Education Sessions and
each session attended provides one to two CEs, with several session options
available throughout the event.
A list of states that approve these CEs is available online
prior to the event.
Vendors: There
are approximately 40-50 exhibitors at the NCLC, but they’re not necessarily there
for the entire event. These exhibitors provide a variety of products and
services relevant to the chiropractic industry, some of which are designed to
improve patient health and others directed more toward effective practice
management.
Additional
Information: If you plan to attend the NCLC, you’ll want to download the ACA Today
Conference Mobile App beforehand because no paper program is distributed at
the event. This app offers users an electronic version of the conference
schedule (which you can customize based on the sessions you want to attend),
any event updates, a list of all attendees, and more.
Dress code for the NCLC is professional.
